If your teeth don’t look so hot due to discoloration or staining, then it’s time to head to the drug store and pick up a teeth-whitening product. These whitening products are roughly divided into three types: toothpastes, trays, and whitening strips. All of these are viable alternatives to professional whitening procedures, which are much more costly.
While oranges and lemons are good in supplying you with Vitamin C, they might also be useful in helping to whiten your teeth. Some suggest that you take lemon or orange peels and rub them onto the teeth themselves. Citrus peels will give even better whitening results if a bit of salt is put on them beforehand.
If using long whitening treatments, which last over an hour, causes your gums extreme sensitivity or pain, switch to treatments that are just applied for half an hour. This new product might require you to use for a few additional weeks, but the health of your gums is more important.
Most of these products do not whiten teeth any more than regular toothpaste. Ask your dentist if there is a brand that is more effective than others.
After you eat a meal or drink a beverage, you should immediately use water to rinse out your mouth. If you rinse thoroughly, you will get all the remaining food and drink out of your mouth preventing them from staining your teeth. You will be able to keep your teeth unstained.
You may develop a sensitivity to some teeth whitening products. Although it may not last, it does hurt. If you experience this, go see your dentist before using the product again. Your dentist may have suggestions for alternate products that will not irritate your teeth.
There is currently no reason for anyone to have yellow, stained and discolored teeth. Purchase some at home whitening systems, and try it out in your home! Of course you could always whiten your teeth professionally, but do it yourself kits are much cheaper and often provide the same results.
